It’s not enough for someone to simply give us a gift. We must also do our part to receive the gift in order to enjoy it fully. And all too often God has given us a promise land that is simply waiting on us to take into our possession.
This was the case as God’s people were completing their years of wandering in the wilderness. God had given them the Promised Land, but they still had to fight in order to take possession of it.
And they missed out on the fullness of the land whenever their lack of faith or fear held them back.
The same is true for us today.
Perhaps God has given us a vision for a raise, or our own business, or spending more time enjoying life with family and friends. And while we’re waiting for things to just happen, God is waiting for us to put our faith into action.
We will likely have to find the courage to ask for that raise, engage in the messiness of starting our own business, and proactively carving out time to spend with our family and friends.
Occasionally, things simply fall into our laps. But it’s possible the vision God has given us is waiting on us to fully take into our possession.
This is not taking matters into our own hands or rushing ahead of God’s timing.
But it is recognizing we have a part to play in receiving the goodness God has for us. And he’s not holding out on us when our fears, insecurities, and doubts hold us back.
He will go with us. But we must trust him enough to actively take possession of what he has given us to enjoy.
Don’t miss the promise land God has for you. Exercise your faith and take hold of it – enjoying it to the full.
