We’re bombarded daily with many concerns
Life is filled with many demands and responsibilities. And this is part of the adventure…that we enjoy coming through for others and making impact for good. But life also comes with a lot of stress as we’re faced with endless bills and unexpected expenses, job changes and aging parents, not to mention the countless social issues and global concerns that were bombarded with every day.
And it’s easy in such an environment to feel overwhelmed and inadequate when this level of stress simply becomes our norm. But normal doesn’t necessarily mean good and our soul cannot flourish when this level of worry simply becomes the water we swim in even when we’re able to function successfully otherwise.
Like a tree planted by the waters
We’re meant to live like that tree planted by the river with it’s roots going deep into the water. This tree is not bothered by the heat, nor is it worried in those long months of drought.
And our life with God, rooted in Him, we can live like that tree. This doesn’t mean that there’s still not seasons of heat and drought. There will still be many challenges that we have to navigate in life.
But as we’re rooted in God, these concerns no longer take out, no longer our rob us of our peace or our ability to keep showing up and offering our strength for good.
Life with God
And so when we find the worries of this life taking us out, it’s time to consider if we are planting our soul by that riverbank of life. And, if not, then it’s time to start practicing bringing everything and everyone back to God in prayer, making our heartfelt request to Him while also living in a spirit of gratitude for all that he’s already done for us.
Yes, life can be challenging, but with God we can be anxious for nothing.
