God’s time is not like our own. A day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. As such, God might seem slow in answering our prayers. But it’s just as possible for him to completely turn our situation around by this time tomorrow.

For example, once during a siege on the city of Samaria, a severe famine caused women to resort to eating their own children. In response to the king’s despair, Elisha delivered a message from God: by this time tomorrow the markets of Samaria will be overflowing with food. This seemed impossible to some, but God orchestrated events to fulfill Elisha’s prophecy. And the one in particular who doubted witnessed the abundance but was unable to partake of it.

To be sure, we live in an age in which there are few things we have to wait on. And, in contrast, our life with God often forces us to practice patience because growth simply takes time. But God is not bound by time in the same way we are. And he is just as capable of making things happen quicker than humanly possible. Perhaps it’s a financial windfall, a relational breakthrough, or a complete healing that can only be explained by the power of God in our life.

Whatever it looks like, the point here is less about time and more about faith. Will we trust God when it seems like things are taking forever? And will we also dare to hope that he can turn our situation around by this time tomorrow?

We must not put God into a box of our own limited understanding. He’s orchestrating events on our behalf for his glory beyond what we can even think or imagine.

In the end, trust God’s power and timing. While he often plays the long game, he can also do what seems impossible and work things out for you by this time tomorrow.
