Life is filled with many disappointments and setbacks, heartaches and sorrows. And it’s tempting to doubt God’s love for us personally during these moments. But such hardships don’t separate us from God’s love. And we grow in our faith and hope during these difficulties, as our love also grows more perfected.
To be sure, it’s easy to lose heart when the storms of life come our way. And not only do we feel like giving up, but we also start to question God’s love for us. If God loves us, why is our life so difficult? But this temptation is nothing new. And we must remember God’s love is not evidenced by the particular circumstances of our story, but rather is revealed through the sending of his Son as the sacrifice to take away our sins.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily minimize the suffering we must go through, but it does help us to keep a proper frame of reference. We can become bold in our faith and confident in our hope when we no longer doubt God’s love for us.
As such, we can stop playing it safe according to the wisdom of this world – focused only on securing our comforts from a human perspective. Likewise, we can dream big, hairy, and audacious dreams – not fueled by our own pride, but because of the power of God at work through us.
But all of this depends on us to grow more perfect in love – living in love and allowing God to live in us. This love removes our fears, doubts, and uncertainties in life. While struggles remain, our faith and hope keeps us from being taken out.
In the end, patiently endure through the storms of life without doubting God’s love for you. Grow in his love – increasing your faith and deepening your hope along the way.
