Generating new life requires our active participation. We must rise to the occasion and offer our strength in order for new life to take place. This story is told in our bodies, but it’s certainly not limited to here.
It is clear both husbands and wives have their parts to play in conceiving new life. And for his part, the man must have an erection, offer his strength, and spill his seed in order for new life to be conceived.
But there’s much more going on here then the mere facts of how babies are made. God is revealing some of the mysteries of how we bring more life and goodness into the world throughout our lives.
For instance, thriving marriages don’t just happen. We must regularly rise to the occasion and offer our strength if we want our marriages to be overflowing with life. And it will eventually die if we’re not consistently spilling ourselves to plant new seeds of life.
This is true in our work as homebuilders as well. Our families need us to show up and pour our hearts and souls into them in order for them to grow into God’s best. And they suffer when we remain distracted or otherwise impotent.
And building communities that are more humane, beautiful, and just also requires us to rise to the occasion. It doesn’t take much effort to slide deeper into darkness and corruption. But advancing goodness and light demands our active participation.
Time and again, throughout our life and relationships, new life is only ushered in as we rise to the occasion and offer ourselves.
And, to be sure, wherever we find things breaking down and new life needed, this likely an occasion where our strength is also called for.
In the end, learn from the story of your body. And bring new life into the world and your relationships by rising to the occasion and offering your strength time and again.
