God has created a bountiful world for us to enjoy. And he has called us to be fruitful and to multiply, to fill the earth and take charge of it. This is a great responsibility, which requires us to embrace a spirit of adventure.

To be sure, we weren’t created to simply play it safe. There are many things still to discover, build, and harness for a greater good. And while we have guides along the way, there are no cookie cutter formulas for us to follow. We must live by faith and adventure into the unknowns throughout much of our life and relationships. This is inherently risky. And it’s why many simply allow life to happen to them or merely do what others expect.

The spirit of adventure comes with freedom and danger, many risks and responsibility. We’re free to explore and cultivate any aspect of God’s good creation. He’s placed deep desires in our heart for us to bring into reality. But we’re still entering into the wild and our safety is not guaranteed.

And while we can avoid many risks by staying in our current comfort zone, we neglect our responsibility to bring more life and goodness into the world when we do. We must enter into many unknown frontiers to build our homes and communities and society into God’s best for them. And there will be many twists and turns and unexpected occurrences along the way. This is all just part of the adventure.

It’s fear that holds us back when we demand life to be completely predictable and safe. On the other hand, faith gives us the courage to enter into these many unknowns with God.

Build and explore. Take risks and love more. Embrace your spirit of adventure and live life to the full.
