Much of life is lived on the frontier. While there are seasons of calm predictability, our journey calls us ever into unknown territories. But it’s here in the chaos of uncertainty that our initiation continues.
Initiation is a period of testing through which a boy emerges as a man – confident he has what it takes to face the challenges of life.
While few formal initiation rituals remain, God is still initiating his sons. And frequently our training ground is through periods of uncertainty.
Life is easy when things are smooth sailing. But we only discover our true ability to weather storms by going through storms.
Who we are and what we’re made of is put to the test when we face the fears of the unknown.
While stressful for all, this becomes a refining moment for those with a strong foundation. But for others, their foundation of sand comes crumbling down.
Entering into the chaos of the unknown requires much faith and courage. We don’t know what will be required of us, but we still trust God is with us as we courageously move forward.
And seeing the chaos before us as an initiation reminds us that it has purpose and meaning in our story.
These are not just random hardships. God is using them to call something out in us – anchoring us in his faithfulness and reminding us of who we are as the true sons of God.
To be sure, the frontier is hard with uncertainties at every turn.
But don’t retreat back to what’s comfortable and known, or look merely for the quick fixes that bring only temporary relief.
Let God initiate you through the chaos of the unknown.
He is preparing you to offer your strength and goodness to the world around you.
