It’s generally not a question of desire that most of us want to be good – making a meaningful impact in the world and knowing we had a part to play in making life better for others. But it often seems like we’re held back. We must rediscover our freedom and power to be vehicles of love throughout our life and relationships.
For instance, we can’t live well when we’re stuck in bad habits, defeating thoughts, or depleting emotional experiences. And whether subtle or explicit, these negative patterns rob us of our freedom to enjoy the rich life in Christ God wants to give us. We must actively resist whatever holds us back to unlock our freedom.
And this freedom then gives us the power to make things happen. All too often we’ve become passive and impotent, perhaps because we’ve seen the many abuses of power. But we cannot make an impact without learning how to access and wisely wield the power God has given us.
And power used wisely is used in the service of love – using our strength to bring more life and goodness to others. We become selfish bullies when we’re just trying to make a name for ourselves or simply trying to get others to follow our agenda. But we participate with God when we use our freedom and power to love and bless others.
To be sure, merely wanting to have an impact for good is not enough. We must learn how to access greater freedom, power, and love throughout our life and relationships. And many times this starts with simply having a better understanding of ourselves and who God has created us to be.
Don’t fumble your impact by allowing your soul to stay locked away. Unlock your soul and discover the freedom and power to love well and make a difference throughout your life and relationships.
