The R.I.S.E. Framework
A Pathway for Masculine Formation
Many men live responsible lives. They work hard. They care for their families. They try to lead with integrity. Yet over time, life can begin to feel heavy. Responsibility remains, but the deeper sense of strength, purpose, and joy fades. What once felt meaningful begins to feel like duty alone.
The R.I.S.E. Framework is a model of masculine formation developed by Dr. Corey Carlisle to help men grow through four movements: Recognize, Initiate, Sacrifice, and Enjoy.
The Four Movements of R.I.S.E.
Masculine growth often unfolds through four movements.
Recognize
A man awakens to who he is and what he longs for. He begins to see the story God is writing through his life.
Initiate
Instead of drifting or waiting, he steps forward. He takes responsibility for action in his relationships, work, and calling.
Sacrifice
A man learns to give himself for the good of others and the work entrusted to him. Sacrifice refines ambition into love and responsibility.
Enjoy
A mature man also learns to receive. He embraces rest, beauty, friendship, and celebration — renewing his strength as a beloved son.
A repeating cycle of masculine formation.
A Pattern of Growth
These movements are not steps a man completes once. They form a cycle.
Recognition leads to initiative. Initiative leads to sacrifice. Sacrifice opens the door to deeper enjoyment of life. And from that place of renewed strength, a man begins again with clearer vision and deeper maturity.
The R.I.S.E. Framework offers a simple map for this lifelong journey of masculine growth.
Why This Framework Exists
Many men today carry immense responsibility but have never been intentionally formed as men.
The R.I.S.E. Framework was developed to provide a structure for that formation — helping men move beyond mere duty into lives marked by strength, purpose, and joy.
It has become the philosophical foundation behind my work with men through counseling, teaching, and group formation.
