We must have vision to reach our destination. This keeps us from going in circles or merely settling for anything. Throughout life, blueprints provide needed direction and help us to make our desires a reality.
Wise builders start with vision – a blueprint that guides them toward their desired outcome.
But a tentative blueprint also helps to coordinate holiday plans.
Having some idea or vision of the outcome we want is useful in every area of life.
To be sure, we need desire, but desire alone doesn’t get us where we want to be.
For example, simply wanting to go on vacation doesn’t provide a path forward. We actually need to see ourselves going to the mountains, to the beach, or to wherever. A vacation blueprint provides a plan for us to follow.
What is the blueprint for your work, your relationships, and even your sexuality?
Work that matters has purpose beyond ourselves. But to accomplish this purpose we must have vision. How does our work advance and help to fulfill the greater purposes of God?
Building meaningful relationships also takes work and requires vision. Good relationships don’t just happen despite how much we love the other. We must have some idea of what good looks like in order to move in this direction.
And the same holds true for our sexuality. Without some sexual blueprint we often find ourselves merely adopting the cultural practices around us.
Blueprints provide direction and guidance in building the life and relationships we desire.
They’re not written in stone and can be adapted as needed. At the same time, they keep us from drifting lost or settling for whatever we can get.
Don’t get stuck going in circles. Draft a blueprint for your life and relationships and move a step closer to making your deep desires a reality.
