We have many soul cravings – things we need in order to thrive. Unfortunately, we try to limit God in how to meet these needs. But God is infinite, and there are countless ways in which he provides.

It’s natural to consider a particular meal to would satisfy our hunger. Maybe we’ll have a nice juicy burger or takeout from our favorite Chinese restaurant.
And in many cases, we have the freedom to choose exactly what we want from the menu of life.
The problem comes when we only have eyes for one item and it’s not on the menu.
Like the kid who will only eat chicken nuggets, sometimes our challenge is to expand our palate.
We frustrate ourselves when we expect God to fulfill our desires within our limited preferences.
God is an infinite God and has infinite ways to satisfy our deep cravings. Our challenge is to expand our palate to all his ways.
For example, our desire for love and belonging is often initially placed on our parents. But as much as we might long for them to consistently meet this need, they are limited and imperfect.
Without denying the need, our task is to open to all the ways God is fathering and mothering us even when our parents let us down.
And his care might come through many unusual and unexpected sources – the passing comment while getting your morning coffee, a smile from a stranger, or the “random” note, gift, touch, or offer to help at just the right time.
We can receive all that God has for us when we open to his infinite caring.
Don’t put God on a limited menu. He knows your needs and is capable of fulfilling them in an infinite number of ways.
