Naked and without shame: Reflections for men on our embodied sexuality

“Life comes with many burdens, expectations, and demands. And there are few pleasures that compare to being able to strip off all of these concerns – stepping outside of our everydayness to enjoy the flow of life through our very bodies. And this is part of what makes sex so appealing and even addictive at times. We long for and need regular moments to be naked and without shame.”

Naked and without shame is a collection of thoughts reflecting on who we are as embodied sexual beings. Even in our highly sexualized culture, we often don’t think deeply enough about our sexuality – why God created it and how to continue maturing the gift he gave us. This neglect invites much unnecessary suffering and grief throughout our life and relationships. The thoughts offered here are to help us celebrate our sexuality, while also learning how to let it shine as light in a dark world.

Lightness of being: And other collected thoughts, 2020

Lightness of being is a collection of thoughts addressed to ordinary men navigating the various frontiers of life and relationships. This is definitely not a how-to manual, but it does offer men many nuggets of inspiration and practical wisdom for daily life – helping them to live balanced lives grounded in truth, promoting the good, and celebrating the joys.

This is a great resource for men, or for the men in your life, who are ready to grow in becoming a good man, but who don’t have particular issues to bring them into therapy, or perhaps who are just not ready for therapy yet. It addresses the serious issues men face without being cliché or preachy.

In the arena: And other collected thoughts, 2021

“It’s easy to criticize others and complain how things could be better. But merely grumbling on the sidelines neglects our responsibilities. We must have the courage to enter the arena and pour out our blood, sweat, and tears to accomplish God’s calling for our life.”

In the arena is a collection of thoughts offered to men navigating the daily realities of their life and relationships and seeking a bit of practical wisdom along the way. It’s an effort to help men feel less alone as they wrestle with many private thoughts and deep questions. And it also blesses the women in our life by giving them a glimpse into the masculine soul.
