Faith calls us into the unknown – out of our familiar and comfortable surroundings and into frontier living. The frontier is unsettled, but we are confident that things are better for us here than if we stayed behind.
Abraham was called to leave the comfort of his home and enter into an unfamiliar land.
And faith often calls us to do the same – to leave the familiar and enter into the frontier.
Those still untamed yet fertile aspects of life are our frontier – our edge that we must go beyond in order to receive all that God has for us.
This can include our work, relationships, and sexuality.
Work Frontier
After years on the job, we know what to expect and we’re comfortable and confident in what we do.
What does it look like to trust God and join him in the frontier of our work?
Even if it’s not changing our paid employment, are we called to offer our gifts and talents in areas previously unexplored?
The work that matters is found by faith on the frontier.
Relational Frontier
Naturally, each relationship finds its comfortable rhythms. And certainly this is to be enjoyed.
At the same time, faith calls us into the frontier of our relationships as well.
Perhaps it’s initiating uncomfortable conversations or simply taking the tour into each other’s world.
Whatever the case, it’s by faith on the frontier that we find the depth and fullness of our meaningful relationships.
Sexual Frontier
Whether sexual shame was taught or the result of our own choices, many of us now play it safe. We’re unsure how to handle the wildness of our sexuality and so we try to keep it small and contained.
But even here, faith calls us into the frontier.
Will we trust God to enter into the wild and untamed parts of our sexual selves to reveal the depths of his goodness?
The true vitality of our sexuality is found by faith on the frontier.
There’s a time to enjoy familiar comforts. And a time to enter into the uncomfortable unknowns with God as well – trusting his goodness even when we don’t know the way.
By faith, enter into the many frontiers of your life and relationships and discover all that God has for you there.
