Not everything in life will make logical sense. And yet this doesn’t make our experiences any less true. Nor can we rush or slow down the deep movements of our heart. It has its own reasons and time.
For instance, some words cut deep even though intellectually we know they shouldn’t. And our healing takes much more than simply trying to explain the words away.
The wounds of the heart run deep and not always rational.
And this is true with our heart affections as well.
At times, we find our heart drawn to certain people, places, music, and the like, and we can’t explain why. In fact, things might not make sense on paper, but the deep connection we experience is still undeniable.
In the end, there’s a wisdom of the heart that transcends our ability to fully understand.
And the heart keeps its own time as well.
For example, the journey of grief is not something we can rush. While many might expect us to move on after just a few days, the waves of grief will continue for years to come, with some more intense than others.
And while there’s intentionality in the journey, to be sure, our healing still takes place on it’s own timeline.
Likewise, there are times in which we’re so captivated by goodness and beauty that we’re distracted from our usual work. A breathtaking sunset, a piercing glance, or even a meaningful commercial can fully stop us in our tracks.
The heart doesn’t wait for a convenient time to be affected and deeply moved.
We invite much unnecessary suffering when we try to force the heart into rational understandings and convenient timelines.
Honoring the deep movements of the heart allows us to receive its wisdom and live life to the full.
However mysterious, learn to accept the heart has its own reasons and time. This gives you much peace throughout your life and relationships.
