The events of our life are not meaningless. If it is true God causes all things to work together for our good, then every event serves a purpose even when it’s not clearly evident. In short, God uses even the events of our daily life to transform us into the image of Christ.

It’s generally easier to see how our decisions shape us when confronted with major issues.

Big decisions such as major moves, job changes, getting married, or having kids we approach with much prayer and discernment. And we move forward trusting God is with us and is using these events to continue growing us up.

When tragedy shakes us to our core we hope beyond hope that our pain is not wasted – that somehow God is present with us and is refining us through the journey ahead.

Likewise, as we wrestle with our signature sins it’s often quite evident how God is convicting us to put off our old ways and learn to walk in a new life.

Where it’s harder to see God at work is in our everydayness – from the current events that impact our communities to the many minor irritations that fill our day.

What do we do with the constant flood of global news, the annoying habits of our wife, or the insufferable family member whose opinions differ so radically from our own?

How do we respond to political cycles, social unrest, and the ridiculously long wait times for customer service?

The events of our day will vary but our hearts are being shaped all the same.

Big or small – God is using the events of our life to transform us into the image of his son.

We won’t always see what he’s up to, but we trust nothing is wasted. He’s working all things for our good – everything so that we will become more like Christ.

Stay open and curious to how God is using your everyday experiences to transform you.
