What starts off full of promise and hope might soon let us down. And in the pain of our disappointment it can be hard to let our hearts dream again. But as we practice renewing our faith and hope we can find our way back to the love and joy our hearts desire.
It’s true we cannot go back to how things once were. We can only keep moving forward. But even after heartache and pain this doesn’t have to be a point of despair.
Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of an adventure is the anticipation. We’re full of hope and more than willing to risk stepping into the unknown – trusting in the promise of goodness still to come.
And while we grieve our disappointments, it’s this spirit of adventure we must continue to take with us.
As such, we practice hope – choosing to believe God still has goodness and beauty in store for us. And we live by faith – actively seeking the good our hearts hope for.
For instance, after many setbacks at work, we can still choose to believe God has given us a glory to reveal. And so we keep actively exploring how to use our unique strengths and talents to bring more life and goodness into the world.
Likewise, even after deep heartaches in marriage, we can restore our spirit of adventure and live with a renewed sense of hope and faith. We date and get to know each other again in this season – with the confident expectation that good is still available and the courage to keep pursuing it.
All too often we shortchange our potential when we allow life’s disappointments to rob us of hope and hinder our life of faith.
Be disappointed when confronted with life’s many setbacks. And remember to continue practicing faith and hope. This renewed spirit of adventure will keep you on track towards discovering God’s best.
