Drake’s Nude Video Leak and Taylor Swift’s Explicit A.I. Images
One of the videos that popped up in my feed today was addressing Drake’s nude video leak with that of the AI explicit images of Taylor Swift that both went viral over this past week or so. And while there’s a lot of social commentary that can be given to the both of those incidences, what stood out to me was that the ability for both of those to go viral was a connection with a unique person… and so this explicit imagery was still tied to someone’s personhood. And if it wasn’t tied to a person’s personhood, would it still have the ability to go viral?
Unique personhood hold undeniable appeal
That certainly if we just want to see nude images, if we want to see sexually explicit content, there’s a bunch of that already online. But what made these incidents go viral? Somehow it’s connected to the person of Taylor Swift, connected to the person of Drake. And that is how it had the power to…the ability to go viral.
Wheat among the weeds
Perhaps much of this is me simply trying to define that even one grain of wheat in the midst of a bunch of weeds.
Desire to see and known holistically
But it is encouraging to me that even in the midst of our depravity, even in the midst of our brokenness, we still long for that sense of wholeness, that original glory that we’re all created for…to see and be seen to know each other in a holistic way. That certainly part of sexual wholeness is not simply reducing each other two body parts or our sexual acts. But part of wholeness is not denying that we have sexual capacity, sexual potential either. That wholeness is holding the reality of who we are in body, soul, and spirit. And I think there was a glimmer of that, a trace of that even in these incidences.
Sexual formation for men – helping them to see holistically
And as I work with men on their journey of sexual formation, this is part of what I’m helping them to do, to be able to see holistically. Again, not reducing each other to just body parts, not reducing to each other just to sex act, but again, including that in the entirety of who we are as men and women of God.

So again, while there’s a lot of commentary that can be given on both of these incidences, for me, there is some encouragement there of knowing that there’s a part of the human soul that is still longing for that sense of wholeness.
