Life gets hard and sometimes it feels like we have nothing more to give. We’re stretched to our breaking point and tempted to just give up. But while overwhelmed, we dig deep and keep holding on.
Our endurance is tested time and again throughout life. And certainly things would be easier if there was a clear end in sight.
But we’re running a race with no defined time or distance to complete. Each day we show up and simply keep pressing forward.
And without a doubt wisdom reminds us to drop any unnecessary weight that drags us down.
Perhaps we’ve overextended ourselves and need to engage in some necessary pruning.
But it’s also possible there’s nothing to cut and this is just a hard season in which a lot is required of us.
God might be using this time to expand our capacity – an opportunity to level up and handle more of life.
And definitely it’s a season of transformation – God using the events and stresses of our daily life to transform us into the image of Christ.
In the end, we trust our waiting time is not wasted and hold on in hope – looking forward to seeing how God is using us in his story of redemption.
But while we sense more is going on, there’s not a lot to do in the meantime other than to keep holding on.
All the same, through the long and dark winter we need regular reminders of the coming spring. And surrounding ourselves with community and finding anchors goes a long way when things get tough.
We shortchange the good God has for us when we don’t stay the course.
Take a deep breath and keep fighting the good fight. Keep holding on and finish the race God has given you.
