We cannot do everything and certainly there are many people more qualified than us in many areas of life. But God has equipped us for doing certain things well, or has otherwise adequately prepared us for answering his call for our life. And, either way, it’s important for us to remember our worth and not let our insecurities hold us back from serving others.
Moses was not a gifted speaker and pleaded with God to send someone else to speak to Pharaoh on his behalf. But God reminded Moses of who made his mouth and reassured him that he would give him the words to speak.
Moses’ worth was not dependent on his natural gifting but on the God who called him to serve. And the same is true for us.
Perhaps we have been gifted in a particular area, but fear and doubt still hold us back. Or maybe we’re not naturally gifted, but God has called us all the same.
To be sure, there’s a place for humility and not pridefully assuming we’re the best person for every job. But humility should not cause us to doubt our worth and our ability to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
For instance, we might start a new business adventure, dive deeper into our relationships, speak into important issues of our day, or simply protect our boundaries from the undue demands of others.
Whatever it looks like, we know our worth and that God has called us to bring more life and goodness into the world. And so we boldly step out on faith – humbly offering what we have and not selling ourselves short due to our own insecurities.
In the end, don’t let fear and doubt cause you to shortchange who God has called you to be. Know your worth and courageously make an impact for good throughout your life and relationships.
