Many days are quite ordinary with no fanfare or profound adventure for us to engage. But joy is not dependent on any grand displays of excitement. Joy can be found in the mundane of life as well.

Certain seasons of life are intense. And it seems we can hardly keep up with the many demands placed on our shoulders.

We crawl into bed exhausted only to get up the next day still fighting to keep our head above water.

Life in these moments is far from boring. There’s no time to be bored!

But at other times, our work is business as usual and our relationships are coasting along more or less peacefully.

And even when there is a lot to do – it’s the completely ordinary aspects of our life and relationships.

Perhaps the day is filled with everyday projects and chores around the house, casually sharing about our day, or changing diapers and helping kids with their homework.

We might be busy, but there’s not much to get excited about. And sometimes this leaves us restless and desperate for entertainment.

If not checked, our discontent eventually robs us of the joy available even in the mundane of life.

Joy is available everyday if only we have the eyes to see it. It’s there when life is teeming with excitement and when it’s just another ordinary day.

Our challenge is to open to it in each moment and not assume that the good life is just one grand adventure after another.

Some days are joyfully ordinary. And this is okay.

Learn to embrace and find contentment in the mundane. This fills you with deep gratitude and a lasting satisfaction.
