There’s much in life we cannot predict or control, perhaps much to our frustration. And even when we sense change is coming, often there’s not much we can do other than to watch and wait.

For instance, this is like parents waiting on the birth of their child or the waiting in the last days of a loved one’s time in this life. This might also be waiting for social change, change of hearts, or for God to show up in our lives as only he can.

Whatever it looks like, time and again we’re faced with situations in which we can only wait for things to work themselves out.

Of course, this is not a passive time and there’s much we can do to prepare for what’s to come. And certainly we should take advantage of these moments every chance we get, as many times changes come suddenly without much time to prepare.

But even after we’ve prepared as best we can, we still can’t control the timing of events and can only watch and wait for them to unfold.

This becomes a matter of faith in which we surrender in trust to God’s timing. While we don’t understand the timing of things, we trust God will work things out at just the right time.

And so, we watch with an eager anticipation of what’s to come even as we wait patiently for things to take place.

This allows us to stay ready for whatever God has for us in these moments – not getting distracted or impatient with our own agenda.

To be sure, this doesn’t make these moments any easier, but a deeper peace grows in our souls as we learn to trust God’s timing throughout our life and relationships.

Hold on just a little while longer as you watch and wait. God has not forgotten and he will work things out at just the right time.
