Life is not a journey to take alone. We become the best version of ourselves by surrounding ourselves with a village of trusted advisors. And even here, each advisor has a unique offering.

Communities are diverse with members serving in a variety of roles for the overall good. Every community needs its proverbial butcher, baker, and candlestick maker.

To rely on one to the neglect of the others hurts the community as a whole.

And the same is true for us personally.

We need a variety of counselors to reach our potential. And we shortchange ourselves when we only rely on one or two.

For instance, a financial advisor might give horrible marriage advice, and vice versa.

But this does not mean we should neglect one’s financial wisdom just because he has a bad marriage. Nor should marital wisdom be limited only to those who are also great with money.

Occasionally, one individual can advise us in multiple areas. But often we need a village.

Who are the different mentors in your life? Who do you go to for advice regarding work and money? Or relationships and sex? And where do you go to receive guidance in the care of your soul?

Life is complex. But we’re not expected to figure it all out on our own.

We need those who can care for the various parts of our life. And those who will guide us as we seek to grow our very selves as well.

Building a team of advisors gives us our village and provides the needed resources for our journey forward.

Find your village of trusted advisors. And let their combined wisdom guide you toward your highest good.
