There’s a certain satisfaction that comes from finding a shortcut or life hack. And ideally we like saving time so that we can enjoy more of what truly matters. All the same, many things in life cannot be rushed. It takes the time it takes – born when the time is right.

Certainly, this is the case with parents waiting on the birth of their child. While they can diligently prepare, the baby ultimately comes when it comes. And the growing body also matures based on its own wisdom and timeline despite the eager anticipation of the boy soon becoming a man. Likewise, nature changes seasons when the time is right and not according to our calendars.

And this truth of time plays out throughout our life and relationships. For instance, there are times in which we might kick ourselves for not knowing what we know now sooner. But we learn what we learn when we learn it. Of course, this is not being lazy or rejecting wisdom along the way. But some things don’t click until they do, regardless of how much we might try to force it otherwise. There are no shortcuts in our journey of maturity.

Even relationally, there’s no hack to make our relationships deeper and more connected without simply going on the journey. While to be sure, we can remain immature and hinder our growth, we must still allow the relationship to grow and mature at its own speed.

The people of God waited for generations for the birth of Christ. And he was born at just the right time to accomplish the will of God. While this is easy to see looking back, we must trust this divine wisdom moving forward as well.

Whether in our lives personally, our relationships, or the larger story that God is telling, the good that God has for us is birthed when the time is right.

Remain faithful in waiting and preparing your heart for all the good to come. And remember there are no shortcuts or hacks to this journey. It takes the time it takes and comes when the time is right.
