Life is filled with many mundane tasks. And we don’t always see the fruit of our labor as we would like. But hope reminds us that even our mundane goodness matters.
We understand Rome wasn’t built in a day and building our Rome will also take time.
Likewise, we understand the value of investment and how today’s meaningful sacrifices lead to tomorrow’s bountiful rewards. When we put money into the bank we reasonably expect it to grow in interest.
But our daily grind is not always so straightforward. In fact, there are many aspects that are not fair and don’t seem to have a direct payoff.
For instance, we might stay home with a sick child, take a lengthy phone call from family member in need, or do countless chores around the house simply because they need to be done.
And we’re not looking for recognition per se, but we want to know our night work matters. Do our unsung efforts actually make a difference?
It’s here in the daily grind of mundane goodness that it’s easy to lose heart.
We could keep going if we could see a direct payoff to our efforts. But many days our efforts have no immediate or clear rewards.
We go the extra mile for others and must still show up and go the distance in our own journey.
But God reminds us nothing is hidden from his sight. He sees our faithfulness even in the mundane and will bless us accordingly.
And his blessings go deeper than surface payoffs and speak to the deep desires of our heart.
To be sure, the mundane remains mundane. But God uses even this to transform our hearts and to grow us in holiness.
Don’t give up in doing good, even when it’s mundane. God sees and will richly bless you at just the right time.
