What is the purpose of your strength? Why did God give you your particular gifts and talents?

We often assume our abilities are intended to give us a better life or to pursue our own happiness. And certainly, there is nothing wrong with this. Naturally, our gifts will have some benefit to us.

However, as we mature from boys into men, we see our strength serves a much larger purpose than just ourselves. Our strength is intended to bring life and goodness to others.

Consider the ant. They work hard to store up food not only for themselves, but also for the colony. They labor to serve the larger community.

How does your strength serve others?

This is the path to discovering our deep purpose, as a meaningful purpose is relational. Said another way, our strength is intended to be a tool of love.

The irony is that before we can serve others, we must know ourselves.

Our first step is knowing the unique strengths that God has given us. After this, our challenge is to use this strength in the service of others. This does not mean we neglect ourselves, only that we transcend ourselves.

  1. Discover your unique strength.
  2. Offer it to others.
