We’ve each been given our own unique talents, gifts, and abilities for doing certain things well. But, unfortunately, many times we remain blind to our own strength and we need others to help us bring our light out of the shadows.

To be sure, we all have our blind spots. And certainly this includes those negative aspects of ourselves that can irritate others and fail to express love.

But sins and undesirable quirks are not the only thing we keep in the shadows.

Our shadow includes anything we’re not yet bringing into the light of day. And many times this includes our gifts as well.

Sometimes this is simply ignorance.

We tend to take our strength for granted and assume everyone can do what we do. It comes so easy for us it doesn’t seem like it’s anything special. And so we often spend our energy trying to pursue those things that seem more remarkable, and allow us to fit in with others, while remaining blind to the unique light we have to offer.

At other times, we have a sense of our strength, but insecurities and doubts hold us back.

Perhaps we fear we’re not ready to offer ourselves yet. Or maybe we’re not convinced that what we have to offer will actually make a difference when there are clearly many other talented individuals around.

In the end, whether we’re just completely blind to our own strength or we’ve simply just kept it in hiding, we often need others to call it out in us.

In many ways, others generally have a clearer picture of what we have to offer, while we’re more prone to overlook it or sell ourselves short.

And on our own we tend to miss the fullness of who God has called us to be.

Without a doubt, God has given you a unique strength to shine as light in a dark generation. Don’t keep this light hidden in the shadows. Listen as others call out your greatness and learn to offer your strength boldly.
