Every so often someone’s skills are so excellent they’re considered in a league of their own, and dubbed the title the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). But we each also have an excellence that can be given this GOAT status.

It’s easy to admire great athletes, musicians, and even thought leaders for their skills and ability.

And we might even debate who truly holds the GOAT status in a particular area.

However, sometimes beneath all our goodhearted comparisons is the assumption this is a status for others and not ourselves. That is, greatness is admired in others and not something to be affirmed within ourselves.

While it’s certainly good to celebrate the greatness of others, we must not ignore or diminish our own excellence.

God has given us each a unique gifting, allowing us to do something better than anyone else. As such, and without question, we are the greatest of all time concerning this unique gift.

Our biggest challenge is discovering who we are and the unique ways God has crafted us.

And sometimes we must also redefine our arena of importance.

Our greatness may never bring us medals or rings on the world’s stage. Our greatness may come in the service of our immediate family, friends, and community.

Perhaps in challenging the status quo, discovering something new, or simply making things better, our unique gift allows us to hold the status of GOAT somewhere in our life and relationships.

The world is a better place when star performers push themselves and allow their excellence to shine for all to see. This reminds us what we’re capable of.

Even in different arenas, their greatness inspires our own.

Honor the greatness in others, and discover your own GOAT status.
