We get a fresh start each morning. Yesterday is done – written in the books of history and cannot be undone. Today is a day full of possibilities and hope.

To be sure, it’s good to regularly look back and remember where we’ve come from. All too often we rush ahead and miss the important lessons of life along the way.

All the same, we don’t want to get stuck living in the past. We miss what God is up to today when we get fixed ruminating on all the woulda-coulda-shouldas of life.

There’s a time to look back and a time to look forward – a time to hold on to the old and a time to open to the new.

Without a doubt, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And still his mercies are new every morning.

He’s faithful in coming through for his people and providing exactly what we need. But he’s not limited in how he shows up.

For instance, how he has worked in someone else’s story might not be how he works in ours. And even how he has showed up in the past for us might not be how he shows up today.

There’s a wildness to God that’s good. He will not be tamed to our expectations.

And so each day, each year, and each season of life we open to the adventure he’s inviting us into.

This might bring changes in our work and relationships, where we live, and how we engage in the culture around us.

But we maintain a posture of faithful curiosity as God leads us deeper into new things, whatever it looks like.

We’re no longer living by faith when we’re unwilling to step into the new he’s calling us to.

Even when it’s scary, stay open to the new things God is up to in your life.
