There is much good we can do with our strength today. And we have not yet reached our potential. We must learn to faithfully offer ourselves now even as we wait for our greater to arrive.

God has given us certain desires we want to see fulfilled. And we live in hope of using our gifts to make a difference.

But waiting for our heart’s desires is a hard position to hold. It’s painful and we start to wonder if it’s even worth it. Is it better to just settle and be grateful for what we already have?

The tension of now and not yet helps us to accept who we are today without shortchanging who we’re still becoming.

Our tendency is to look forward to see what we’re missing. But we then forget to also look back to see how far we’ve come.

On the one hand, we overlook today’s blessings by focusing on what we don’t have. At the same time, we miss our potential if we conclude that who we are today is all there is to us.

Our challenge is to learn satisfaction while still hungering for more – accepting who we are today while still diligently moving toward who we are becoming.

To be sure, we have enough to love well now even as we groan and wait for the full expression of our desires.

And we limit the potential of our impact on one end or the other when we cannot hold this tension.

Learn to embrace the now and not yet realities of your story – offering the fullness of your strength today even as you grow into your better.
